Rebecca (Becky) Hale
Becky Hale currently serves on the board of the Center for Freethought Equality and on the board of the Freethinkers of Colorado Springs, which she helped organize in 1996.
She received the 2020 Distinguished Service to Humanism award from Humanists International and has served on the board of Humanists International from 2016-2020, as well as the board of the American Humanist Association from 2005-2021 (serving as Vice President from 2009-2012 and President from 2013-2019), and she was a co-founder of the Colorado Coalition of Reason. With her husband, Gary Betchan, she co-founded EvolveFISH.com in 1996 (they sold it in 2016).
Becky owns and manages rental real estate in Colorado Springs, mostly renting to college students, a demographic where she appreciates their energy, enthusiasm, and creative outlook. She was born in NYC and raised as a Unitarian Humanist; her two children, Josh and Tanrei, are both proud humanists. She graduated from Colorado State University in 1974 with a BA in anthropology and natural resources and from the University of Colorado in 1976 with an MPA in city management. She has had careers in city management, real estate development, and resort management.
