Senator Kirsten Gillibrand is a candidate in the 2020 presidential election. She entered the race on March 17, 2019.
Gillibrand was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives in 2006. In the house, was a member of the Committee on Agriculture and the Committee on Armed Services. She was also chair of the Committee on Agriculture’s Subcommittee on Livestock, Dairy and Poultry. She was then appointed to the Senate in 2009 and has since been reelected for two full terms. In the Senate, she is a member of the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, the Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on Environment and Public works, and the Special Committee on Aging. She is also ranking member of the Committee on Armed Services’ Subcommittee on Personnel and the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry’s Subcommittee on Domestic and Foreign Marketing, Inspection, and Plant and Animal Health.
