Senator Michael Bennet is a candidate in the 2020 presidential election. He announced his candidacy on May 2, 2019.
Bennet began his career working in the Clinton administration as council to the attorney general, and assistant secretary of state for International Organization Affairs. Later, he served as superintendent of Denver Public Schools from 2005-2009, when he was appointed to fill a vacant U.S. Senate seat. He was later reelected for two full terms. As a senator, Bennet is a member of the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry, the Committee on Finance and the Select Committee on Intelligence. He is also ranking member on the Committee on Agriculture, Nutrition and Forestry’s Subcommittee on Conservation, Forestry and Natural Resources, as well as the Committee on Finance’s Subcommittee on Energy, Natural Resources, and Infrastructure.
