Senator Elizabeth Warren is a candidate in the 2020 presidential election. She announced her candidacy on February 9, 2019.

Warren, a former professor, served as assistant to the president and special advisor to the secretary of the treasury during the Obama administration. She won a U.S. Senate seat in her home state of Massachusetts in 2012. In the Senate she is a member of the Committee on Armed Services, the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs, Committee on Health, Education, Labor and Pensions, and the Special Committee on Aging. She is also ranking member of the Committee on Banking, Housing, and Urban Affairs’ subcommittee on Financial Institutions and Customer Protection.
