Eric Swalwell was a candidate in the 2020 presidential election. He announced his candidacy on April 8, 2019. On July 8, 2019 Swalwell dropped out of the race. 

Swalwell began his career on Dublin, CA City Council where he served from 2010-2013. In 2012 he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, where he is currently serving his fourth term. In the House, he serves on the Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, as the Chair of the Intelligence Modernization and Readiness Subcommittee, and as a member of the Judiciary Committee. He previously served on the Committee on Homeland Security, and the Committee on Science, Space and Technology.
