Julián Casto is a Democratic candidate in the 2020 presidential election. He announced his candidacy on January 12, 2019.
Castro began his political career in 2001 when he was elected to the San Antonio City Council. He then proceeded to serve as mayor of San Antonio beginning in 2009. In 2014, he resigned to accept a position on President Barack Obama’s cabinet as secretary of Housing and Urban Development. He held this position until 2017.
