Joe Sestak is a candidate in the 2020 presidential election. He announced his candidacy on June 23, 2019.

Sestak began his career in the U.S. Navy, serving for over 31 years, and attaining the rank of 3-star admiral. He also served as Director of Defense Policy on the National Security Council for President Clinton. In 2006, he was elected to the U.S. House of Representatives, representing Pennsylvania’s 7th district. In the House, he served on the Committee on Armed Services, and the Committee on Education and Labor. He was also the vice chair of the Committee on Small Business. He was reelected in 2008 but chose to not seek reelection in 2010, instead running for a U.S. Senate seat. He lost the election in 201o, and again in 2016. Following his losses, he became president of the non-profit FIRST Global, which helps promote STEM education in high school students.
