Derek Araujo

Derek C. Araujo is a Data Scientist and manager at an advanced marketing firm in New York City. He is also a licensed attorney in the State of New York, where he practiced law professionally for seven years before pursuing a second graduate degree in the sciences. Derek previously served many roles at the Center for Inquiry from 2007 – 2011, including as General Counsel and Public Policy Director. His involvement in the humanist movement dates to his days as a student at Harvard College, where he served as a student representative for the Humanist Chaplaincy at Harvard, founded the Harvard Secular Society (now the Harvard Community of Atheists, Agnostics and Humanists), and co-founded the Campus Freethought Alliance, an national umbrella organization of atheist, agnostic and humanistic college communities. Derek holds a bachelor’s degree in physics from Harvard College, a J.D. from Harvard Law School and a Ph.D. in physics from Columbia University.
