The Secular Student Alliance empowers secular students to proudly express their identity, build welcoming communities, promote secular values, and set a course for lifelong activism. Founded in 2000, the Secular Student Alliance supports a rapidly growing network of over 300 atheist, agnostic, and humanist groups on high school, college and university campuses across the country, with international affiliates.
The Secular Student Alliance provides direct support through our team of campus organizers and our free resources for students, include a wide range of tabling supplies, regular leadership training events, funding for campus projects and speakers, resource guides for a diversity of activities from service projects, educational events, social justice advocacy and separation of church and state activism. The Secular Student Alliance offers student activist scholarships and hosts a national conference, offering amazing speakers, leadership development, and an opportunity for secular students to engage with each other and the broader secular community.
The Secular Student Alliance’s advocacy stems from a belief in the separation of church and state. Student advocates are ready to engage with intersectional issues on their campus and in their community that violate this secular separation. SSA works to address issues of religiously motivated discrimination as it arises on campus. Secular Student Alliance chapters work to build coalitions with like minded student groups on campus, bringing the tools, skills, and people power towards movements for secular understanding, acceptance, and equality.
