Washington, DC — Today the Secular Coalition for America and the United Coalition of Reason (UnitedCoR) announced a bold new partnership to engage nontheistic communities across the country and begin mobilizing the one-quarter of Americans with no religious affiliation into a unified voting bloc. To better facilitate cooperation between the two organizations, the Secular Coalition for America will manage the programs of UnitedCoR.
“Our new partnership with UnitedCoR will empower nontheistic communities with the tools they need to make an impact and engage with the growing number of nonreligious Americans who want to be a force for positive change,” said Larry T. Decker, Executive Director of the Secular Coalition for America. “Our nation has reached a historic tipping point. The religious right has captured the levers of power at the same moment in which our country is undergoing an unprecedented exodus away from organized religion.
“We are so excited to be partnering with the Secular Coalition for America,” said Steve Rade, the founder and Board Chair of the United Coalition of Reason. “I know our eighty local chapters will get a new level of support to help us amplify our message at the national level. Since our founding in 2009, our mission has been to create a nationwide network of local nontheistic organizations. This partnership with the Secular Coalition for America gives us the credibility and support our local chapters need to influence the political establishment in their communities.”
