On January 18, 2016 Bullock signed an executive order for the state of Montana that protected LGBTQ state employees from discrimination. At the press conference, he said it was time to “recommit to [Martin Luther] King’s values of compassion and equity” through the introduction of the protection. On the same day, he tweeted:
“No Montanan should be denied full and equal participation in our state’s workforce based on discrimination & intolerance.”
