Marianne Williamson has made various statements about vaccines. On February 1, 2011, following a series of now deleted facebook posts about vaccination, Williamson stated,
“I understand the controversial aspects of vaccinations, and I share many of the concerns. I took down those posts, though I do admire what the Gates Foundation is doing for children around the world. The issue isn’t black and white…”
In an appearance on Bill Maher’s show on February 6, 2015, Williamson said,
“there’s a public health issue that over-rides individual liberty here, even though I don’t want the government, as a rule, telling me what I can do and can’t do with my body for medical purposes.”
In a June 20, 2019 tweet Williamson cleared up her statements about vaccines on Maher’s show saying,
“I understand that many vaccines are important and save lives. I recognize there are epidemics around the world that are stopped by vaccines. I also understand some of the skepticism that abounds today about drugs which are rushed to market by Big Pharma. I am sorry that I made comments which sounded as though I question the validity of life-saving vaccines. That is not my feeling and I realize that I misspoke.”
On her campaign website, Williamson states that
“The Center for Disease Control should invest more research into preventing disease, rather than treating symptoms and look broadly at vulnerabilities in the system (like avoiding pandemics by encouraging healthy disease avoidance behaviors).”
