On May 1, 2019, Delaney made a statement on vaccines for Buzzfeed News.
In the statement, he said “I think [vaccines] are necessary,” and added that he doesn’t believe vaccines are a cause of autism, and that exemptions should be considered based on the nature of particular diseases. For a highly contagious disease like measles, he believes only medical exemptions should be permitted.
