Bill Weld has made various statements about his support for LGBTQ rights. Most notable was his role as a signatory on an Amicus Curiae brief calling for the Supreme Court to recognize marriage rights for all in February 2013.
In a June 22, 2016 CNN Libertarian Town Hall, he said, ““marriage equality is dictated by the due process clause and equal protection clause.”
In an interview with OXY released the same day, Weld also made a statement on the transgender bathroom debate saying,
“[Asking if I would enforce protections for the Trans Community is] the same thing as asking if someone would vote for the Civil Rights Act of 1964… If bathroom access for transgender people rises to the status of a right that needs protection, then why not?”
