The Lee County School Board has voted unanimously in favor of putting “In God We Trust” American flag decals on their school buses.
“There’s actually a state law that requires us to have ‘In God We Trust’ placed in each of our school buildings so this seems like a natural follow up on that and I think something around here will appreciate and take pride in having on the buses,” Lee County School Board member Rob Hines told News 5 on Thursday.
School Board Chairman Mike Kidwell released a statement, saying in part, “In God We Trust is our country’s motto. The school board wanted to expand this motto to our bus fleet to preserve its value and to show our community’s patriotism.”
The decals are expected to be on the buses next school year.
