Allow modern medicine to relieve agonizing end-of-life experiences

In 44 states, terminally-ill patients still don’t have the right to end their lives peacefully and painlessly on their own terms. The Hill has an article explaining why:

“Why are some members of Congress and state legislators trying to deny Americans this peaceful end-of-life care option? Personal religious objections. Misinformation. Irrational fear of change. These are the conclusions that I have reached after reading extensively, testifying before state lawmakers and debating opponents on the topic of medical aid in dying. The arguments against this humane medical option often are based on objections raised by some religious leaders, despite polling showing most people of faith support medical aid in dying.”

Secular Values Voters know that public policy must be justified by evidence and reason, not misinformation and personal religious beliefs. In the absence of any compelling reason, lawmakers have no right to deny terminally-ill patients the right to end their suffering.
