Since 1990, the percentage of Americans with no religious affiliation (the “Nones”) has nearly tripled. Now, new research drawing on historical trends projects that, by 2020, there will be more of these “Nones” than Catholics, and by 2035, they will outnumber Protestants.
Sitting and prospective lawmakers would be wise to consider reaching out to this rapidly growing demographic sooner rather than later.
