De Blasio was commended on April 12, 2019 by Planned Parenthood for his role in filing an amicus brief supporting a lawsuit which challenges the legality of the Title X “domestic gag rule.” The rule prevents organizations that perform abortions or offer abortion referrals from receiving federal funding under Title X.
Speaking at a June 24, 2019, Planned Parenthood Presidential Forum De Blasio also condemned the global gag rule, saying: “Get rid of the gag rule. Get rid of that global gag rule once and for all.”
